The Medusa Marble Bust Sculpture - 70cm by Giant Sculptures features a woman's face with closed eyes and snake hair, mounted on a rectangular marble base.
Medusa Marble Bust Sculpture - 70cm $8,20600
Description

The Medusa Marble Bust Sculpture at 70cm is a striking classical study in premium natural marble — real stone, hand-carved from solid block — depicting the mythological Gorgon as a composed, otherworldly female figure. Her eyes are closed in an expression of unsettling calm, her head crowned with the writhing serpents that define her legend. Each snake is individually carved, coiling and overlapping across the crown of the composition. The bust is mounted on a rectangular marble base, presenting the piece as a self-contained classical monument suited to both interior display and sheltered exterior settings.

Carved Stone, Serpents in Detail

This hand-carved marble bust is worked entirely from genuine natural stone — not cast, not machine-reproduced. The Medusa marble sculpture demands considerable carving skill: the serpentine hair requires each individual snake form to be undercut and detailed in three dimensions, separating it from the surrounding composition while remaining structurally integral to the solid marble block beneath. The facial anatomy — the closed eyelids, the soft modelling of the lips and cheeks — is finished to a refined surface typical of classical statuary carving. The white marble selected for this piece carries natural grain and veining inherent to the stone, giving the finished bust the depth and luminosity of the finest traditional sculpture. No two pieces are identical; stone variation is part of what makes each carving its own object.

A classical marble bust of this scale — 70cm — works well as a centrepiece on a console, plinth, library shelf, or outdoor garden table. Its compact footprint belies the visual weight of the composition. White marble sits naturally against dark interiors, aged stone architecture, formal gardens, and contemporary monochrome schemes. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor placement.

Handmade to Order, Fully Customisable

Every natural stone carving in our range is worked by hand to order — 3–4 weeks standard, 5–6 weeks for bespoke commissions. Our artisans operate from our main studios in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops supporting production.

This bust can be produced in alternative marble varieties, at a different scale, or with modifications to expression, pose, or base design. A fully bespoke mythological portrait commission — worked from a brief or reference — is also available. Contact us to discuss your requirements.

Two large, black bear-shaped sculptures stand indoors near a window with a view of a yard. One sculpture is in the foreground with its back to the viewer, and the other faces forward, creating a mirrored effect. Trees and a chair are visible outside.
