Description

A horse springs forward from a swept crest of carved cloud, both forelegs raised. The head is turned down and in, a bridle crosses it, the mane falls in long flame-like locks and the tail hangs beside the hind leg. It rises from a single swept crest of carved cloud with rounded lobes along its top edge, both hind legs standing behind the crest, on a thin rectangular slab. The muzzle band and the raised hoof are darker than the stone around them. White marble faintly warm, soft grey veining through barrel, haunch and cloud crest.

A Crest Whose Back Edge Carries Two Legs

The cloud on this model is not a bank the animal stands in the middle of - it is a single swept crest, and both hind legs come down behind it and are seated onto its back edge. That makes the back edge structural, and it is a thin edge: the crest sweeps up to a ridge with rounded lobes along the top, and the stone directly under the two hooves is the narrowest section anywhere in the load path. It is therefore blocked solid and kept at full thickness through the entire job, while the horse above is roughed, modelled and finished around it. Only when the animal's true weight is settled is the crest cut back to the profile shown, the lobes rounded and the sweep taken down - last, and from the top, so the bearing edge is touched least.

We make three versions of this leap and it is worth knowing which is which before choosing. One carries wings and is a Pegasus. One stands in a broad cloud mass with a hind leg through an opening cut clean through it. This is the third: a single swept crest, both hind legs behind it, the tail hanging rather than streaming. It is the most compact of the three in plan and the easiest to place against a building. At 250cm the raised forelegs stand far overhead and the animal reads from below. Place it where a long view runs past its flank rather than into its chest: the leap is entirely a profile, and end-on there is almost nothing of it to see.

The Third of a Family, and How It Differs

Twenty-four to twenty-six weeks. Blocking the swept crest solid comes first, since both hind legs are seated down onto its back edge. The slab is dressed and the crest blocked solid at full thickness above it. Roughing the animal comes after that - the mass of the body before anything else, the lifted forelegs carried as blunt stubs, and the two hind legs kept heavy exactly where they bear onto the crest's back edge. Head, bridle and the flame-cut mane follow. The crest is cut back to profile and its lobes rounded at the very end, worked from the top down. Nothing in horse, crest or slab is pinned, dowelled or filled at all. Some 9,118kg all told, and it wants two crane lifts and a poured concrete foundation. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Horses fill a good part of animal sculptures, and the very largest under large garden statues.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of destination.

  • Sculptures under 50cm — shipped by air freight. Typical delivery 1–2 weeks after production is complete.
  • Sculptures 50cm and above — shipped by sea freight. Typical delivery 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

For larger sculptures where faster delivery is needed, air freight is available at additional cost — contact us before ordering for a quote.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

30-Day Returns

We accept 30-day returns on sculptures in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

To start a return, contact us within 30 days of receipt. Return shipping for change-of-mind returns is at the customer's cost.

Bespoke and custom-commissioned pieces are non-refundable once production has started, as they are made specifically to your specification.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
