Lavender Blue Frosted Thin-Walled Shell Cast Resin Chair - 64cm
Lavender Blue Frosted Thin-Walled Shell Cast Resin Chair - 64cm $4,05200
Description

Lavender blue runs through this chair's frosted shell, which is cast as one sheet of even thickness. A low back panel and two curled side wings rise from the seat, the wings ending short of its front edge, and the sheet carries on downward into two flat legs that splay outward. Along each cut edge the colour deepens to violet; across the open seat it softens almost to lilac white.

Lavender Blue Deepening to Violet at the Rim

Frosted resin of a single thickness takes colour according to the angle it is seen at, and in lavender blue that makes the outline the strongest thing about the chair. Each rim, the crests of the wings and the outer face of each leg gather a deep violet, while broad surfaces facing the eye pale to lilac and then nearly to white. The frosting softens every reflection, so there is no glare and the colour sits evenly in the material. Seat, wings, back and legs are one continuous sheet, folded rather than joined, and nowhere on it is there a straight line.

At 64cm it sits low, which makes it an easy chair for a dressing table or a desk in a bedroom. It suits a pale room, where the cool colour reads softly against white walls, and its splayed legs keep it steady on a rug or on boards. Set it where light falls across it from one side, which brings the violet edges forward. Indoor use only.

Lavender, the Wings and the Sled Beneath

Plan for 3–4 weeks on a standard piece and 5–6 weeks on a bespoke commission. The lavender can be taken bluer or warmer towards violet, and a single flat tint can replace the graded edges. The wings can be omitted for a simpler open tub, and a set of four slender legs is offered instead of the sled for a more upright stance. Chairs ordered together are poured on the same day, so their colour agrees. Each is crated alone and carried by two people. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Shell chairs like this one are part of our art furniture, the frosted lavender casting goes into our resin sculptures, and the folded form with our organic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
