The Large Traditional Buddha Head Bronze Bust stands at a commanding 150cm and presents one of Buddhism's most recognisable iconographic forms with quiet authority. The face is held in a front-facing meditative gaze, eyes cast downward beneath smooth, serene brow planes, and the lips carry the gentle Archaic smile that defines contemplative devotion across centuries of sacred art.
This piece is cast using the traditional lost-wax method, which allows the intricate surface detail of the ushnisha crown, with its tight, precisely rendered spiral curls, to be reproduced with exceptional fidelity. The elongated earlobes fall naturally to either side, and the transition from the smooth facial planes to the textured crown demonstrates the skill involved in hand-finishing each cast. The green verdigris patina is applied by hand across the entire surface, producing mottled lighter and darker tones that shift with ambient light and give the piece the weight of age and authenticity. The integral cylindrical neck and collar base carries the same finish throughout, creating a unified, self-contained form. This is a large bronze Buddha head built to anchor a space rather than merely fill it, weighing 500kg and designed to be a permanent, considered installation.
The verdigris finish reads equally well against pale stone walls, rendered garden enclosures, and dark interior surfaces. It suits formal meditation spaces, entrance halls with generous ceiling height, landscaped courtyards, and curated contemporary interiors where a single focal object is required. The piece is fully suited to both indoor and outdoor placement; cast bronze is inherently weather-resistant and the verdigris patina will deepen gracefully with exterior exposure over time.
We offer alternative patina finishes including dark brown, natural warm bronze, and blackened antique treatments. The scale can be adjusted to commission specification, either reduced for interior niches or increased for monumental garden or architectural settings. If you have a specific placement in mind or wish to discuss a finish not shown, contact us before ordering and we will advise accordingly. Work inspired by the classical Buddhist sculptural tradition, including references to the work of specific regional or historical periods, can be discussed as part of a bespoke commission.
