Large Modern Abstract Face Fragment Bronze Sculpture, standing 180cm tall, presents two oversized partial face forms, each depicting the nose, lips and chin, mounted face-to-face on slender steel poles as if suspended mid-kiss. The cropped composition, cutting each face at the forehead, transforms the familiar into something architectural and quietly charged.
Each fragment is cast using the traditional lost-wax method, producing the dense, weighty solidity that hand-finished cast bronze demands at this scale. The surface carries a deep olive-brown patina with a deliberately cracked, fissured texture throughout, giving both pieces the appearance of ancient stone or weathered earth while remaining entirely bronze. Atop each head, a small frog figure sits as a quiet, unexpected detail. At 400kg for the pair, the physical presence is substantial and fully intentional.
The dark, oxidised steel pole mounts and flat rectangular base plates anchor each piece with an industrial restraint that suits the sculptural language well. This pair reads powerfully in contemporary interiors with poured concrete, stone, or dark timber; equally it holds its own in open courtyard settings, walled gardens, or institutional outdoor spaces where a focal pairing is needed. The textured bronze abstract sculpture format gives it a rare adaptability across indoor and outdoor environments.
Patina can be adjusted on request, from the current dark olive-brown through to lighter natural bronze, verdigris, or a polished black finish. Scale modifications are available, as are bespoke commissions inspired by the work of artists working in the fragmented figurative tradition. If you wish to discuss size, finish, or a commission brief before ordering, contact us directly and we will advise.
