The Large Classical Seated Lion Bronze Sculpture stands at an imposing 220cm, presenting a life-size lion in an alert, upright pose with front legs planted forward and head turned in calm but commanding profile. The mane flows in layered, interlocking strands; the shoulders and haunches read with the weight and musculature of the real animal.
This piece is cast using the traditional lost-wax method, which allows the full depth of the mane and the precision of each claw and paw pad to survive intact from the original sculpted model. The surface carries a warm reddish-brown bronze patina, with darker verdigris settling into the recessed planes of the mane and body. That tonal contrast is not a surface coating applied uniformly; it emerges from the hand-finishing process, giving each cast its own character. The result is a monumental bronze lion statue that reads as antique and authoritative from the first viewing.
At 220cm and 260kg, this sculpture commands presence in any grand setting. It suits the entrance of a country estate, a formal garden terrace, a civic forecourt, or a double-height interior hall. The warm bronze palette sits naturally against Portland stone, aged brick, dark hardwood, and polished marble alike. The low rectangular stone plinth is integral to the piece, providing a stable base and extending the classical silhouette.
Patina options include natural verdigris, dark brown, black, and mid-tone antique bronze. Scale can be adjusted up or down from the 220cm master, and the piece can be commissioned as a mirrored pair for symmetrical entrance settings. If you have a specific commission in mind, inspired by the work of classical animalier sculptors of the nineteenth century, contact us before ordering to discuss feasibility and pricing.
