The Large Classical Recumbent Roaring Lion Bronze Sculpture is a commanding 150cm piece that presents the lion in full heraldic authority: forelegs stretched forward, head raised, mouth open mid-roar, mane rendered in deep, flowing detail that catches light across every ridge and curl.
This sculpture is produced using the traditional lost-wax casting method, a process that captures the precise texture of the original model, from the fine striations of the mane to the articulation of each claw and the detailed interior of the open mouth. The surface carries a rich dark brown patina applied and worked by hand, with natural lighter tones emerging on the raised planes of the mane, brow, and shoulders. The result is a finish that reads as aged and authoritative rather than decorative. As a large bronze lion sculpture at monumental scale, the 1,000kg casting carries genuine physical presence that no resin or stone reproduction can replicate.
At 150cm in height, this piece is suited to grand entranceways, estate driveways, courtyard settings, and large interior halls with generous ceiling height. The classical dark bronze palette pairs naturally with dressed stone, pale render, aged brick, and formal landscaping. The sculpture reads equally well flanked symmetrically as a pair or placed as a solitary focal point at the head of a flight of steps.
We offer a range of patina options beyond the standard dark brown, including verde green, golden brown, and black. Scale variations are available if you require this lion larger or smaller than the listed 150cm height. If you are considering a matched pair for a gated entrance or a commission inspired by the work of a specific classical sculptural tradition, contact us before ordering so we can confirm dimensions, patina, and base requirements.
