The Langthorpe Silver Crane Sculpture stands 150cm tall, a large fibreglass crane finished in a bright, reflective silver. The bird is modelled mid-movement, neck extended and body drawn into one long, unbroken line, so the whole form reads as a single gesture rather than a collection of parts. At this height it works as a floor-standing statement piece: tall enough to hold a room on its own, slim enough to stand in a hallway or beside a window without crowding the space.
Each Langthorpe crane is cast by hand in fibreglass from a single master mould, which keeps the long neck and tapering body true while holding the piece light enough for one person to reposition. Fibreglass suits this shape particularly well: it carries a slender, elongated silhouette that would be fragile in carved stone and unwieldy in cast metal, and it takes a smooth, even finish across every plane. The silver is applied over a sealed surface and polished back by hand, so the reflection stays continuous along the curve of the neck and across the wing rather than breaking up at the tighter radii.
The finished surface behaves like brushed metal, picking up the colour of the room and shifting as you move around it. Under warm light it reads soft and champagne-toned; in daylight it turns cool and closer to polished steel. The seal protects it against dust and handling, and a dry cloth is all the maintenance it needs, with no polish or chemical cleaners.
A crane sculpture of this scale belongs where it can be seen in full: an entrance hall, a stairwell landing, a hotel or office reception, or a large living room where it stands clear of the furniture. The silver finish sits naturally alongside cool greys, glass, pale oak and polished concrete, and lifts a dark or neutral scheme without introducing colour. Leave clear space to either side so the outline reads cleanly, and keep the surrounding furniture low and plain. This piece is finished for indoor display.
Every Langthorpe crane is handmade to order in our own workshops rather than held in stock, with a standard lead time of around 3–4 weeks, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. Because each one begins as a commission, there is room to change the finish or the proportions before production starts.
Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops. The same crane can be finished in warm gold, matte black, soft white or a bespoke colour matched to an existing scheme, and the scale can be adjusted to suit the setting. It is available as a matched pair, or as a group alongside the other poses in the Langthorpe range: stretching, dancing, arched, calling and preening. Please contact us before ordering to discuss finish, scale or a full commission.
