Jade Effect Curled Foot Cast Resin Chair - 79cm $4,59000
Description

Pale celadon resin worked to a jade effect makes this cast chair in a single piece: a tall tapering back runs down into a scooped seat, and the sides then drop away and flare out into curled feet, so one unbroken line runs from the crest of the back to the ground. No stone is used anywhere in it; the effect is in the resin.

A Back That Runs Unbroken Down Into Its Feet

The celadon is in the resin rather than on it, so it deepens where the shell thickens at the shoulders and pales across the open middle of the back, and it cannot rub off an edge. The curled feet are the difficult part: they are drawn out of the same shell as the seat and they have to come out of the mould without a thin place at the turn. Each foot is then trued against the other three, because a chair that stands on four curls shows any rock at once on a hard floor.

This is a dining chair and will pull up to a table like any other, and its pale celadon sits well beside oak, linen and white walls. The curled feet spread wider than the seat, so allow for them when setting a run of chairs, and a hard floor suits them better than a deep pile that would let one curl settle before the rest.

The Celadon, the Foot Curl, and Standing It Level

Set aside 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The jade effect is the slow part. There are three decisions. The celadon can be taken deeper or lightened, the jade effect can be dropped for a plain tint, and the curl of the feet can be opened out or drawn tighter. You name the seat height and the back height. Where two or more are wanted, the depth of the celadon in the shell is held the same across the group. It is crated round the curled feet and the top of the back and needs four people to walk it into place. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A back that runs unbroken into curled feet makes a chair for our art furniture; the celadon form suits our contemporary and modern sculptures, and a hard-floored dining room among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
