Deep flutes run down the lobed outline of this stump stool, and the timber inside shows through clear resin in two tones, honey and dark chocolate. The honey grain climbs the flutes in long wavy streaks, gathering here and there into oval rings of figure on one flank, while broad passages of dark chocolate run between them. The top is a broad sawn face of close rings, edged in pale sapwood, with a small star-shaped check at the pith.
Here the grain, not the geometry, is the subject. The honey streaks follow the flutes upward, wavering as they go, so one flute can carry a pale gold at its crest and a near-chocolate a hand's width further round. Because the material is translucent through the lighter passages, those parts glow and the darker ones sit back, which gives the stool a depth that a single-colour body does not have. On one flank the figure gathers into oval rings, like the eyes in a cut branch, and these are the busiest part of the surface. The top reads clearly: the rings are close and even, the pale sapwood makes a light edge, and the check at the centre is small and tight.
At 40cm it sits just below seat height and works more as a side table than a seat, next to an armchair or a bed. The sawn top takes a cup, a book or a small lamp. Set it where the figure can be seen from above and from the side, and give it light from one side rather than overhead so the pale passages light through. Indoor use only.
Lead times run 5–6 weeks bespoke and 3–4 standard. The timber sets the pace: figure like this cannot be specified precisely, only asked for, and the studio puts the selected stock in front of the customer before work starts so the range of tone is agreed rather than assumed. What can be specified is the finish of the top, left level as here or given a shallow dish that gathers a pool of shadow. The height can be raised to order while the diameter stays as it is. Several can be worked from one stock so that their tones relate, which matters if more than one is wanted for a room. It travels upright in one crate with the top capped, and one person can move it though two should lift it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Honey and chocolate timber under clear resin, this stool sits with our art furniture; its glossy casting is shared with our resin sculptures, and its wavering grain with our organic sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
