Description

In this smoked cast resin and metal sculpture two cylinders of smoked grey translucent resin, rounded at the bottom and cut flat across the top, lean against one another and are held by a single gold ring passing round both. The two cut tops stand at a gap from each other and neither is a surface: this is a sculpture and it is offered as one.

Two Cylinders Held Up by One Ring

Each cylinder is cast solid, ground true and polished to a mirror on its curved face, and the two are then cut at the top to the angle they will stand at, which is set on the pair together and not on either alone. The ring is made to the finished cylinders so it bears on both and holds them at their lean. The smoked tone is in the material and gathers with the section, so each reads darker through its thickness than across its face. The rounded bottoms are worked to the same polish as the sides, because the ring holds the pair clear of the floor at the front and the underside is seen.

It is a piece to stand on the floor or on a low stand rather than on a table, and it wants clear space round it so the lean can be read against a plain background. The ring catches light where the resin does not, so a lamp to one side does more for it than a downlight overhead. On a pale plinth the smoke reads as shadow; on a dark one the gold is the only thing that carries.

The Ring, the Lean, and Where It Reads

Most pieces are standard and take 3–4 weeks; a bespoke commission takes 5–6. Most of it is the bound ring. Three points are open. The smoke can be taken deeper or replaced with a tint, the ring is offered in another metal finish, and the lean angle is set to your figure. The cylinder diameter and the overall height are named by you. The lean of the two cylinders is common to a single order and particular to it. The gold ring and the two cut tops travel crated clear, and two people carry it in with a hand under each cylinder. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Two smoked cylinders held as one belong with our abstract sculptures; the gold ring relates it to our metal sculptures, and the smoked casting to our resin sculptures.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
