A dragon rises out of its own coils in this resin sculpture: the scaled body winds round on itself, and the head lifts at the top with its mane and whiskers swept back. The grey deepens as the body descends: pale smoke at the head, darker through the coils and near black in the rolling mass at the foot, as if the dragon were climbing out of shadow.
A grade running down through the coils has to arrive without a step in it, and a step cannot be corrected afterwards. The scales are cut over every coil, and the grade has to pass across them evenly, so the darkening reads as depth rather than as dirt in the hollows. The mane and the whiskers at the head are the finest passages on the piece and are finished last, after the body is polished. No two castings darken in exactly the same way, so each dragon has its own shading.
A dark foot and a pale top make this look planted, so it suits a position where it stands alone rather than in a row: the end of a sideboard, a single shelf, or a console where nothing else competes. It needs a pale surface under it or the black foot merges with the top and the piece appears to be floating. At 42cm it reads from standing height without a plinth. Light from above suits the grade, since it keeps the pale top bright and lets the foot stay dark.
Where the piece is standard the build is 3–4 weeks, and where it is bespoke 5–6. The grade can be set to run over the whole piece, held to the coils near the foot, or reversed so the dark is at the top. It can be graded in smoke grey as here, bronze, amber or green, or cast colourless with the grade carried in leaf instead of pigment. The dark base can be made deeper or kept low. Scale is cut to order. The piece is crated upright and sleeved, and is a one-person lift taken around the base rather than by the head. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A dragon rising from its own coils belongs with our classic sculptures; smoke grey darkening to black leads to our resin sculptures, and a dragon to stand alone on a shelf joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
