Grey & Gold Crazed Web Boat Vessel Resin Sculpture - 220cm
Grey & Gold Crazed Web Boat Vessel Resin Sculpture - 220cm $9,98500
Description

A long, shallow boat vessel, tapering to fine points at both ends. Its walls are pale, silvery grey resin, and a web of raised, dark olive-brown lines is drawn over them like the crazing in old porcelain or the cracks in dried earth. It rests at its centre on a slim metal arch finished in a soft gold, which lifts it clear of the surface.

A Pale Hull Crazed With a Dark Web

Crazing is usually a flaw, and here it is the decoration: the web of lines covers the whole wall evenly, each cell of it a slightly different shape, so the vessel looks aged and precious at once. The grey ground is kept pale and cool, and the dark olive of the raised web sets every cell apart from its neighbours. The hull is long and shallow and its rim is fine, and the gold-toned arch beneath meets it at two points only, which makes the long form seem to float.

A long surface suits it, a sideboard, a console table or a long cabinet, where it is seen side on. Both fine points want clear space beyond them, so nothing should be set hard against either end. Light from above brings out the web; a dark surface under it deepens the grey. It sits well with brass, stone and pale timber.

The Web, the Ground and Delivery

Making a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks, and making a bespoke one 5–6. The web can be drawn in a silver or copper tone, or in black, instead of olive-brown, and the ground can be made in olive, amber or cream; the vessel can be cast at another length. A black web on cream gives it the look of old ceramics. The vessel and its arch travel together in one long crate, packed so the rim is protected along its whole length, and the hull is always lifted from beneath, never by either fine point. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A pale grey hull crazed with a dark web and lifted on its gold-toned arch is shown alongside our resin sculptures, our metal sculptures and our organic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
