Green Wound Spiral on Marble Resin Sculpture - 45cm, a coiled green resin form on a black marble base, shown against a plain light background.
Green Wound Spiral on Marble Resin Sculpture - 45cm $2,29600
Description

A green resin form drawn as one continuous sheet, winding from a narrow point out into a broad hood. The sheet begins heavy at the point and loses section as it opens, so the green is deepest at the foot and clears toward the opening. Beneath is a slab of black marble, which comes with it.

One Sheet, Wound Rather Than Assembled

A wound form has one problem that a cut form does not: it has to read as continuous. The eye is quick to find a join, and if the sheet appears to stop and start the piece becomes two objects leaning together. What holds it is the section. The sheet is drawn thick at the point and thinned steadily as it winds out into the hood, so the material itself tells the eye which way the movement runs, and it runs one way only. A sheet of constant thickness wound the same way reads as a strip of ribbon, which is a different and much weaker object. The green does the second half of the work. Because the section changes, the colour changes with it, and the deepest green sits at the point where the material is heaviest. That puts the visual weight at the bottom of the spiral and lets the hood open without appearing to topple.

The hood is the point of it, so it wants to be seen into rather than at: a low table, a broad shelf below eye level, anywhere the opening can be seen into from above rather than edge on. Set high the hood closes to a line and the piece becomes a green curve with nothing inside it. At 45cm on its stone it suits being given its own space rather than a group, because the winding needs an uninterrupted background to be followed round.

The Winding, the Green, and Delivery

Where the piece is standard the build is 3–4 weeks, and where it is bespoke 5–6. The hood is drawn wider or wound tighter, the green is run to a blue, and the point is brought further out. The sheet is drawn at other spans on this stone, and a frosted finish is offered which suits the wound form better than it suits the cut ones, since frosting shows a changing section more clearly than a polish does. The stone is made in other thicknesses where the balance wants adjusting. It travels as two items in one crate, the casting bedded on its outer curve rather than on the point, which is the thinnest section and the part that would take a knock first. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A sheet wound from a point is organic sculpture; the green runs through the material as resin sculpture; and the hood needs indoor sculpture placing to be read into.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
