Green Jade-Effect Draped Armchair, 91cm, by Giant Sculptures, a pale celadon composite chair with flowing draped folds, shown on a plain white background.
Green Jade-Effect Draped Armchair - 91cm $6,27700
Description

The Green Jade-Effect Draped Armchair is one continuous form in a pale celadon composite: a squared upright back, arms that flare outward and then fall in soft folds all the way to the floor, and a seat carried between them with no visible frame. The material is semi-translucent and clouds unevenly, so the folds hold a deeper green in their hollows and pale almost to white along their edges.

One Draped Silhouette in a Jade-Effect Composite

There is no leg, no bracket and no visible fixing anywhere on the chair: the arms reach the floor and become its feet, and the silhouette from the side is a single unbroken outline from the top of the back to the ground. The folds are not repeated or mirrored, so the left arm falls differently from the right and the chair has a better side. The material is an imitation jade composite, semi-translucent rather than clear, which is what gives the folds their depth of colour without the piece reading as glass. Every chair clouds differently, so the pattern is not something that can be specified. The surface is left with a soft sheen rather than a full gloss, closer to worked stone than to a cast finish.

This is a broad armchair for occasional use, not a dining seat. It is made to be seen from every side, so it works out in a room, at an angle in a corner or at the end of a hall, and the falling arms mean it should not be pushed tight against a wall where the folds would be lost. It reads best against something matte, so plaster, wool or unpolished stone rather than glass. A solid colour behind it will make the translucency show. Indoor use only.

Three Jade Tones, Seat Height & a Matching Pad

Allow 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The jade tone is chosen from three: this pale green, a white, and a grey-green, all with the same uneven clouding and all in the same composite. The pale green is the one that reads as jade at a distance; the white is the quietest in a room that already has colour, and the grey-green the closest to a real worked stone. Seat height is adjusted at order, which is worth doing if the chair is going beside a particular table or window seat, because the arms reach the floor and the whole silhouette scales with it rather than the seat alone moving. A seat pad is made to match if the chair is to be used for longer sittings than an occasional one; it sits loose in the pan and is not fixed. The chair ships as one piece in a fitted crate and is carried with a hand under the seat and both arms supported, because the flared tips are the most exposed part of it and the least able to take a knock. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Draped like cloth thrown over a frame, this jade-effect armchair belongs to our art furniture, sits inside like our indoor sculptures, and its falling folds suit our organic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
