Green Edged Bubbled Acrylic Bench on Steel Blades - 160cm $9,92300
Description

Two things are happening in this bench's panel at once. Held inside the material is a fine field of bubbles, dense enough to give the body a milky depth without clouding it. Cut into the faces is a close vertical combing that runs top to bottom. And every cut edge runs a pale green, so the panel is outlined in colour while its faces stay colourless.

Green on the Cut Edges, Bubbles in the Body

Bubbles and a cut surface are usually enemies. A bubble broken open by the tool leaves a pit rather than a mark, so the combing has to be cut at a depth that stays clear of the bubble field, which means the field is kept away from the outer few millimetres of the panel when it is cast. That is a decision taken before any cutting happens. The green is inside the sheet and appears only at a cut, so each edge settles a question of colour as well as of finish, and all of them are worked to one clarity, or the drawn rectangle comes apart.

A panel that is outlined in green and colourless across its faces reads as a drawn rectangle from across a room, so give it a plain wall and a plain floor to be drawn against. It sits at seat height. Light from the side sets the cut edges glowing and finds the bubbles at the same time; overhead light does neither. The polished blades reflect the floor, so over a hard surface the whole panel appears to hang.

Bubble Density, Edge Colour and Two-Part Assembly

Work on a bespoke commission runs to 5–6 weeks, on a standard piece to 3–4. Bubble density is open, from a light scatter to a dense field, and a clear body without bubbles is available. Other edge colours are drawn from the same stock. The combing can be coarsened, run along the length instead of across it, or left off. Panel depth is offered lighter. Length is cut to order. Blades come brushed or coated. The three pieces arrive separately and the blades bolt up beneath the panel. Two people are wanted for the panel at this depth. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Pale green caught only where the panel is cut belongs with our acrylic sculptures; polished blades that set the panel hanging lead to our stainless steel sculptures, and a bench outlined in green for a plain wall joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
