Green Cut Sphere on Black Marble Resin Sculpture, 30cm, with swirling cut-glass-like green scoops and dark rim bands on a thin black base, shown against a plain white background.
Green Cut Sphere on Black Marble Resin Sculpture - 30cm $1,68700
Description

A small green ball cut into two winding scoops and set on black stone. The green is clear and bright across the open faces and turns almost black in a band along each rim, which is the thickest material in the casting. The marble under it is kept thin, so the stone reads as a line rather than as a plinth.

A Dark Band Where the Rim Turns

On its small stone this is the desk-scale member of the cut, and the green is graded rather than run flat because of it. At arm's length the eye resolves the inside of both scoops at once, so an even tint would be read as a single colour and the form would flatten. Grading it from a dark rim to a pale centre puts a gradient inside each hollow, and the two gradients run opposite ways because the scoops face opposite ways, which is what keeps the turn legible this close to.

At 30cm it is made for a desk or a side table and read close at hand rather than across a room. It suits a surface with light coming past it: the scooped faces are bright because they are thin, and they want something luminous behind them. The black slab does not need a mat or a pad, but it should be set on a surface that will not mark, since the stone is heavier than the casting above it.

The Green, the Stone, and Delivery

It takes 3–4 weeks to make as standard, and 5–6 weeks to make bespoke. The green is lifted toward yellow at the scoops, the cut is drawn deeper, and the stone is made thinner. The design is repeated at other diameters on this slab, and the stone is thickened where a heavier stance is wanted. A tint run evenly through the body is offered and removes the dark band entirely, which is the feature the piece is built on, so it is worth seeing before it is chosen. Stone and casting go in one case packed apart, and the ball can be carried by one person. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

The turning cut at tabletop size is organic sculpture; the green is carried inside resin sculpture; and stone under a casting is indoor sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
