Green & Gold Marbled Rippled Column Sculpture - 160cm
Green & Gold Marbled Rippled Column Sculpture - 160cm $5,93900
Description

A slender four-sided column whose faces rise and fall in regular waves the whole way up, standing on a foot only slightly wider than the shaft. Green, gold and blue are marbled through white, and the mixture differs at every ripple. Nothing is supplied under it. The column widens slightly at the bottom and stands on that.

Almost Nothing but Height

A column eight times its own width in height has nothing to offer but its surface, and the rippling is what turns a post into an object. The marbling changes at every ripple, so the colour and the form are doing the same work: both of them make the eye climb rather than take the whole thing in at once. A column this thin has almost nothing but height, and the resin is what lets the ripples give it a surface worth looking at. Polished over a face rippled in regular waves, so the light is broken up at every one of them.

A hall, a stairwell or a narrow landing. It takes almost no floor and a great deal of air. A plain ground behind it, because the marbling changes at every ripple and needs somewhere still to do it. Light along the column catches each ripple in turn and the piece appears to move as you walk past. A coloured line at the end of a corridor, and the ripples separate out only when you are alongside.

Deeper Ripples, and Getting It In

Production takes approximately 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The ripples are cut deeper, the gold is dropped from the mixture, and stone is supplied beneath it. Draw the ripples deeper and the column has to be made wider, or there is not enough section left between them. Crated standing, and it comes out of the box already upright. Two people at this height, taken low and kept vertical. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A rippled column marbled green, gold and blue belongs to our organic sculptures; its marbling, changing at every ripple, joins our resin sculptures, and a corridor's far end keeps it in view among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
