The gilding on this resin sculpture runs over the crown, the mane and both forelegs down to the paws planted on the block beneath: tight curls round a domed brow above a broad muzzle. Between the forelegs the body is left clear, so the gold reads as a skin over the front of the animal rather than a solid mass. What it sits on is the opposite - a block of clear resin, left rough where it was broken, with flakes of the same gold suspended through it. Gold above, clear material below.
Gilding a curled mane is slower than gilding a flat surface by a long way. Every curl is a hollow with an undercut lip, and leaf that stops at the lip leaves a dark ring at the bottom of each one, which from across a room reads as dirt rather than shadow. So the leaf is worked down into each hollow separately and burnished there, and a mane of this size is the slowest single operation on the piece. The block underneath is left deliberately unfinished on its broken faces and polished only on the top, where the animal sits: a rough face in clear resin scatters light and makes the gold above it look brighter, which is why it is not smoothed. The join is a flat seat the width of the paws.
An opaque gold animal needs a plain ground and a little distance, so a console against a pale wall, a hall chest or a shelf at chest height all suit it. It does not want backlight: light behind it silhouettes the gold and turns the block into a bright blank, where light from the front or above puts the modelling back into the mane. Two of them, one to each side of a gateway, is the usual arrangement, and the price here covers a single animal.
A standard piece takes 3–4 weeks to make, and a bespoke commission 5–6. Silver and copper are made in place of the gold, and a partial gilding - the mane alone, or the mane and the collar - is offered where the whole animal is too much. The block comes clear and flecked as here, in a plain clear, or in a black stone. The design is mirrored to order, which is how a facing pair for a gateway is built. Any scale is cut to order, up to the sizes made for gateways. Delivery is one fitted crate with the animal and the block already joined; two people should lift it, taking it under the block and never by the mane. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A guardian lion gilded from mane to paw belongs with our lion statues; a curled mane worked in gold leads to our animal sculptures, and a rough block flecked with leaf joins our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
