Frosted Green Draped Cloth Resin Sculpture, 30cm, in white with green pooling in the folds, shown on a plain white background.
Frosted Green Draped Cloth Resin Sculpture - 30cm $1,62000
Description

A draped form in frosted resin, like a sheet fallen over something and then lifted away, leaving the shape of whatever was underneath in the way the folds hang. Green sits in the folds and clears at the crests, so the drape is described by colour as much as by shape. Nothing comes under it. The hem is the foot and it stands flat.

An Object That Is Not There

A drape is a piece about an object that is not there, and the folds have to imply it without describing it. The folds have to imply a form without describing one, so they are sharp where the missing object had a corner and slack where it had none, and the eye assembles the rest without ever being told. The material has to hold a sharp fold and a soft one within a few centimetres of each other, which is harder than either on its own. Frosted over the whole surface, which is what makes it read as something woven rather than as something transparent.

A shelf, a bedside or a mantel. It is small and it reads best at eye level. A plain ground behind, because the outline is the whole subject. Side light is what shows the folds; anything from the front flattens the drape into a blank shape. The silhouette carries and the folds do not, which is the right way round for something this size.

Deepening the Folds, and Delivery

Allow 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The folds are drawn deeper, the green is taken toward grey, and the hem is opened wider. Draw the folds deeper and the hem opens with them, because the drape is one sheet however it falls. The hem sets the footprint and the folds set the height, so changing one is a conversation about the other before it is anything else. One piece in a fitted crate, and it stands wherever it is put down. One person, one hand around the body. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Frosted fabric falling into folds leads to our organic sculptures; this green-shaded drape joins our resin sculptures, and more to set at eye level waits in our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
