Deep Blue Pierced Folded Form Resin Sculpture, 120cm, polished resin piece rising from a spread foot and folding with a pierced opening, deep blue fading to clear, on a round dark base against a plain white background.
Deep Blue Pierced Folded Form Resin Sculpture - 120cm $3,84900
Description

A body rising from a spread foot and folding over on itself near the top, with a single opening worked right through the fold where the two surfaces come closest. Deep blue banks at the foot and clears through the fold, so the top of the piece is nearly colourless. Every surface is polished, so the blue reads deep in the thick of the body and almost clear at its thin edges. Its foot is attached to a round blue disc, which comes with it.

An Opening Where the Body Is Thickest

Every opening cut through a solid makes what remains work harder, and past a certain point the object stops being a mass with a hole and becomes a frame round one. Putting the opening where the body has most material is the opposite of the obvious choice, and it is what makes the fold read as something bent rather than something built. An opening worked through the thickest part of a body leaves very little either side of it, and both sides carry everything above. Polished over the whole surface, and the inside of the opening takes as long as the outside.

A sideboard, a console or the end of a long room, seen from the side the opening faces. A pale ground behind it, since everything above the fold is clear enough to show what is there. Light that goes in at the opening leaves somewhere unexpected, which is the reason to site it within reach. The fold reads as one shape from the door and the opening in it only appears at about three paces.

Widening the Opening, and Delivery

In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The opening is drawn wider, the blue is taken higher up the body, or the fold is turned to face the other way. Widen the opening and the fold above has to be thickened, since the material either side is carrying it. A single piece, crated with the foot bedded and the fold packed clear of everything. Two people, both hands under the disc and nothing through the opening. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A blue body folding over one opening leads to our organic sculptures; the blue thinning out through the fold ties it to our resin sculptures, and a pale wall behind it shows the opening best among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
