The top of this console is a long run of solid dark timber, with square edges and an open grain left visible under the finish. It stands on two legs that were never meant to match: a heavy timber block at one end, cut from the same stock as the top, and a clear acrylic panel at the other. One end of the console therefore reads as solid and the other as almost nothing at all.
Two unlike legs under one top is a balance problem before it is an aesthetic one. The timber block is heavy and the acrylic panel is not, so the top is fixed differently at each end: the block takes fixings that leave the timber free to move with the seasons, while the panel is bonded and bolted to a plate let into the underside. The panel is also made thicker than it looks necessary, because a clear leg that flexes reads as a fault in the whole piece even when it is carrying its load perfectly well. The timber is finished on all faces including the underside, since the acrylic end lets you see it.
This is a console for a wall you walk along rather than one you stand in front of, because the two ends are different and the walk is what shows it. The solid end wants to be the one you meet first. A console this long needs a real wall, such as an entrance or a wide landing. Put the acrylic leg where light reaches it; in a dark corner it simply disappears and the console looks unsupported at one end.
As standard the build runs 3–4 weeks, and as a bespoke commission 5–6. The timber is offered in this dark stain, an oiled oak, a walnut or a painted finish, and top thickness is open. The acrylic panel comes clear, in a smoke, an amber or a blue, and its width is set at order - narrow it and the console leans further toward looking unsupported. Which end takes which leg is your choice and should be given at order. Length is cut to order. Top, block and panel travel separately and the top is a three-person lift; the two legs are fitted in place with a screwdriver and one spanner. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A timber block and a clear panel under one top belong with our acrylic sculptures; a console built to be walked along leads to our art furniture, and a long timber top for an open landing joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
