Dark Timber Slab Clear Trumpet Leg Dining Table, 300cm, with a live-edge dark wood top on two clear resin trumpet legs, shown on a plain white background.
Dark Timber Slab Clear Trumpet Leg Dining Table - 300cm $15,12100
Description

This dining table's top is one thick board of dark, richly figured timber, left with a live edge along its length, and it stands on two hollow clear resin trumpet legs. The dark timber and the colourless legs are as far apart as two materials on one piece can be, and that contrast is the whole of the design.

Dark Timber Over Two Rippled Legs

The board is dried and stabilised over a long schedule, because a board this wide will show any movement left in it as a lift along the live edge. The face is flattened and finished and the edge is cleaned back to sound wood. The two legs are cast hollow and polished inside as well as out, since a hollow trumpet under a dark board is looked into. Each mouth is faced flat and the two are levelled together, and the slab is brought to plane along its whole run and checked on both diagonals before it is bonded down.

Give it a room with space to walk all the way round, because from either long side the dark board reads as one solid mass. The legs stand well in from the ends, so the head and foot places have clear legroom. The dark timber wants light from above to show its figure, and the colourless legs vanish against a pale floor, which is what leaves the board apparently floating.

The Dark Timber, the Legs, and How It Travels

Time separates the two: a bespoke commission takes 5–6 weeks, a standard piece 3–4. Most of it is the dark timber slab. There are three open questions. A darker or a paler board is selected at order, the legs can be plain instead of fluted, and the leg wall can be built up heavier. Tell us the top length and the top depth. Batched together, the pieces are made so the tone of the timber corresponds. It travels with the slab edge and the resin leg rims padded and held away from the crate walls, each leg boxed on its own. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Dark figured timber over two clear hollow legs makes this dining table one for our art furniture; the board's live edge answers our organic sculptures, the trumpets our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.

Questions Before You Order?
