This hollow drum stool is cast in bright cyan-blue translucent resin and drawn in slightly at the waist, its sides running with thick molten drips while the top face is left flat and clear. The body is cast hollow, so the colour sits in the surface where it is seen rather than in a solid mass behind it.
At this size a hollow casting is slower work than a solid one: the wall has to hold the same thickness right round, and anywhere it runs thin shows from outside as a bright band. The molten forms on the side are modelled into the mould rather than ground in, so they run off the top arris and down to the foot in one movement. The blue is in the material and deepens with the thickness, which is why the rim reads lighter than the waist. The top face is worked flat last of all.
At 40cm this is a stool at low seat height and works in front of a chair as readily as beside one, and being hollow one person can move it where a solid drum this saturated would take two. The blue wants light through it rather than on it: against a window it reads as lit glass and in a shaded corner it closes to near-black.
In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. Most of it is the molten side. Three points are open. The wall thickness is open, the molten side can be worked coarser, and the cyan is offered in another hue. You give the drum diameter and the seat height. The depth of the blue at the rim is common to a single order and particular to it. Packing keeps the molten side and the flat top off the crate walls, and it is a one-person carry. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Cyan resin melting down the side of a hollow drum gives our art furniture a stool of strong colour; the dripping surface belongs with our organic sculptures, and the cyan pour with our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
