Cornflower Blue Fading Arch Wave Resin Sculpture - 90cm $2,35400
Description

Cornflower blue gathers at the foot of this arch and thins on the way up, so the piece pales as it rises and darkens again as it comes back down. The blue is a deep cobalt in the foot and a soft periwinkle up the climbing band and over the crown, with streaks of the deeper tone running along its inner edge, while the fingers hanging from the crown are almost colourless. The arch is not a half circle: it leans as it climbs and the crown sits over one side rather than the middle. Those fingers hang down towards the sprays that rise from the foot, stopping short of them, so the ring is left open. The whole object is barely thicker than the stone it stands on.

The Colour Runs Out Where the Arch Is Thinnest

Two things change as this piece rises and they have to change together. The material thins, because an arch that stayed the same section all the way round would look like a pipe; and the blue fades, because the colour is carried in the body and there is less body to carry it. If the tint gave out early the crown would look bleached and the band would read as a stalk; here it thins to a pale periwinkle over the crown and gives out only in the hanging fingers, which keeps the lift that makes it an arch at all. Getting them to arrive together is the work, and it is checked against the light rather than in the hand, because a tint judged flat on a bench is not the tint anyone will see.

Being so shallow, it stands almost flat against whatever is behind it, and that wall is half of what you see. A plain wall does more for it than a handsome surface underneath, and a busy one takes the pale crown out altogether. Daylight from the side lifts the blue at the foot and leaves the crown as a line, which is the reading it is drawn for. Standing 90cm on its stone, it suits a console or a hall table, takes little run and almost no depth, and should stand clear of anything that would cross the opening.

Depth of Tint, Width of Arch, and Delivery

Delivery follows a 3–4 week build as standard, or a 5–6 week build if bespoke. The colour runs out exactly where the arch is thinnest and furthest from the foot, so the two changes have to happen together. The blue is taken deeper or let go earlier, the arch is drawn wider, and a second tint is run from the foot instead. The lean of the arch is set at order as well, so a symmetrical version is made where a quieter piece suits the position. It ships upright with the stone boxed apart and the crown sleeved, and the arch is set on its stone where it stands. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Leaning as it climbs and paling towards an open crown, this cornflower blue arch sits with our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
