Copper Tone Curl on a Marble Plinth Resin Sculpture, 132cm, a copper-toned curling form on a slim gold stem atop a black marble plinth, set against a plain white background.
Copper Tone Curl on a Marble Plinth Resin Sculpture - 132cm $3,98300
Description

A copper-toned resin curl carried at standing height on a slim gold-toned stem and a black marble plinth. The curl is a single turning surface with a wide opening on one side, copper-toned on the outer face and lighter within, and the stem holds it clear of the stone by about a hand’s width.

A Small Form Put at Standing Height

A small form on a tall plinth is a deliberate imbalance, and it works because of what sits between them. A curl set straight onto a column would look like a lid; the slim stem holds it clear of the stone by a hand's width and the gap is what makes the form appear to float rather than to rest. The stem is drawn narrow for the same reason - anything thicker would read as a neck and the two parts would become one object. Putting the curl at this height also changes how it is read. At table height a curl is looked into and the interior is the subject; carried this high it is met edge on, so what the viewer gets is the outline against the wall and the copper tone along the outside, which is why the colour is strongest on the outer face rather than within the opening.

This is floor work. The plinth wants flat ground under it and space to walk up to, and works in an entrance, on a stair turn or in a corner seen from across a room. At 132cm the curl sits below eye level for most people, so the opening is partly in view and the piece is read at an angle rather than square on. A quiet wall behind does more for the outline than a patterned one.

The Plinth, the Curl, and Delivery

Most pieces are standard and take 3–4 weeks; a bespoke commission takes 5–6. The plinth is made at other heights, the copper is taken toward gold, and the curl is drawn further open. The stem is also drawn at other lengths, which alters the gap between casting and stone that the whole arrangement depends on. The curl is made at other spans on this column. A frosted body is offered and reads well at this height, since a polished surface above the head returns ceiling light. Three crates arrive and it is built up on site: the plinth wants two people, the stem drops into its top, and the curl sits onto the stem. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A curl lifted clear of its column belongs with our organic sculptures; copper resin lighter within leads to our resin sculptures, and a tall piece for a quiet corner of an entrance joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
