The Contemporary Blindfolded Emerging Head Bronze Sculpture stands at a commanding 160cm, presenting a disembodied human head and raised arms rising from a low circular base, hands pressing a cloth blindfold firmly across the eyes. The absent torso is deliberate; the truncation focuses every line of tension into the face, the gripping fingers, and the draped fabric rendered with startling precision in solid cast bronze.
This piece is produced using the traditional lost-wax casting method, which allows the hand-finished bronze sculpture to preserve the finest surface detail, from the creased folds of the blindfold to the subtle articulation of knuckle and fingertip. A warm reddish-brown patina covers the piece, deepening in the recessed areas and catching cooler highlights on the raised planes of the cheekbones, brow, and fabric ridges. The result is a surface that reads differently in morning light than it does at dusk, rewarding close attention over time.
At 160cm, this large figurative bronze carries the presence of a major installation piece. Indoors, it commands a double-height entrance hall, a gallery corridor, or a generous reception space with neutral stone or concrete backdrops that allow the warm patina to dominate. Outdoors, it holds its own against open sky on a terrace, courtyard, or landscaped plaza, the conceptual composition gaining further resonance when set against an uninterrupted horizon.
Customisation options include alternative patina treatments, from cool dark verde to polished natural bronze, as well as scale adjustments for both reduced and monumental versions. The surrealist composition is also suited to bespoke interpretations; if you have a specific vision inspired by the work of Sergio Bustamante, our studio team is ready to develop it with you.
