Colourless Ridged Fan Wedge Resin Sculpture - 73cm
Colourless Ridged Fan Wedge Resin Sculpture - 73cm $2,76600
Description

A wedge of colourless resin that rises from a flat tongue into a peak fanned with deep grooves. The tongue reaches out clear of the slab, and the grooves sweep up from it, widening as they climb to the top of the peak. There is no colour in it; fine bubbles held through the thickness are what the eye finds instead. The white marble slab comes with it and is longer and deeper than the wedge standing on it.

Grooves Doing the Work of Colour

A piece with no colour in it at all has to be given something else to be looked at, and here that is a fan of grooves and a field of fine bubbles held in the body. The grooves fan rather than run parallel, so they get further apart as the wedge gets thicker and the piece stays evenly bright from the tongue to the top. A fan of grooves this deep in glass would be ground; in resin they are formed, and the bubbles are left where the pour put them. The grooves are polished to the bottom, which is why they read as light rather than as cuts.

A desk takes this, and it wants to be side-on to whoever is working. It reads best against something dark, which is the opposite of what the marble under it wants. The grooves fill with light and the bubbles hold it, so the wedge is brightest where it is thickest. From standing it is a clear wedge; the grooves and the bubbles are both near work.

Deeper Cutting, and How It Arrives

The standard build is 3–4 weeks and the bespoke build 5–6. The grooves are cut deeper, the bubbles are left out, and the slab is cut in black marble instead of white. Cut the grooves deeper and the wedge is made thicker to take them, and the slab follows the new footprint. Wedge and slab travel apart in one crate, and the wedge is lifted with both hands under the grooved peak, never by the flat tongue that reaches out beyond it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A clear wedge whose grooves fan up from a flat tongue into a peak sits with our indoor sculptures, our contemporary and modern sculptures and our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
