Colourless Domed Top Flared Column Side Table - 50cm
Colourless Domed Top Flared Column Side Table - 50cm $3,23800
Description

This is a cast resin side table. A wide shallow dome with a rolled rim forms the top, and under it a single column runs to the floor. That column is not turned or straight: it narrows just below the top, twists through the middle, and flares out at the bottom into a broad irregular foot that spreads wider than the top's rim. The whole piece is colourless and water-clear, polished throughout, so it borrows the tone of whatever it stands on.

One Column Flaring Out to Meet the Floor

This is a table drawn as one gesture from top to floor. The dome is regular and the column under it is not: it pinches just below the rim, twists through the middle, and opens out at the bottom into a foot that spreads wider than the top does. That inversion is what holds the eye, because the piece appears to be growing from the floor rather than standing on it. Being colourless throughout, the column takes the tone of the floor and the dome takes the tone of the ceiling, so the same table looks different in two rooms. The rolled rim is the only regular line on it.

At 50cm this side table stands beside a bed or the arm of a chair, and the flared foot means it needs a little more floor than its top suggests. Being water-clear it borrows everything around it, so a plain floor and a plain wall let the twist in the column read. Light from one side is what separates the column from the foot. It will hold a glass level. Indoors only.

The Foot, the Dome, and the Height It Stands At

Plan for 3–4 weeks on a standard piece and 5–6 weeks on a bespoke commission. The polish is the slow part. Three things are yours to choose. The foot is the first choice, from this broad flare through to a narrow one that makes the column read straighter. The dome is second: shallow as here, or deeper, which makes the top read as a bowl. And the height it stands at, since the same top and foot work at coffee table height as readily as at this one. Diameter and height are settled at order. The flare of the foot agrees across a group only when the group is one order. The crate is packed to keep the rolled rim and the flared foot clear, and it takes one person to move. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A domed top on a twisting column joins our art furniture, its water-clear casting our resin sculptures, and the flared foot our organic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
