Colourless Bark Textured Cast Resin Stump Stool - 45cm
Colourless Bark Textured Cast Resin Stump Stool - 45cm $3,23800
Description

A colourless stump stool, cast hollow. The flank carries the full relief of bark, deep vertical fissures and coarse ridges, and at the foot it swells into a few rounded lumps where roots would begin. The top is a sawn face with visible growth rings and a split running off centre. Nothing is tinted, so the whole object is water clear and the bark relief reads entirely as light and shadow.

Full Bark Relief With No Colour at All to Read It By

Taking the colour out of a stump is a harder thing than it sounds, because a real stump is read almost entirely by its colour: dark bark, pale sapwood, warm end grain. With all of that gone what remains is the surface itself, and the surface has to do all the work. It does it well. Every fissure in the bark becomes a bright line where the material turns, and every ridge throws a shadow onto the flank behind it, so the relief reads more sharply than it would in timber. The sawn top is the opposite: nearly flat, so it stays quiet and lets the rings show as fine concentric lines. Turned in the hand the whole object changes completely, because the highlights move while the shadows stay.

Its top stands at 45cm, an ordinary seat height that takes an adult's weight, and being hollow it is far easier to move than a solid stump of its size would be. It works as a stool at a low table, a side table beside a chair, or a stand for a lamp, and being clear it takes up almost no visual space in a small room. Put it against something with pattern or colour and the whole stool picks that up through itself. On a dark floor the bark relief reads at its strongest. Indoors only.

Wall Thickness, Bark Depth and Added Branch Stubs

In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The wall is the first thing worth naming. A thicker one can be cast where the rim should look more solid. The depth of the bark relief, from this pronounced cut through to a shallower texture that reads as a ripple rather than as bark. And branch stubs, which can be added to the flank, one or several, where a trunk with cut limbs is wanted. A tint can be added to the mix if a clear stool is not wanted. Diameter and height are cut to order. It travels in a single crate and needs two people to set down, hollow though it is. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Bark relief poured in colourless resin makes this stump stool at home in our organic sculptures, seated among our art furniture, and clear like our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
