Cobalt Kidney Sunken Recess Resin Low Table, 90cm, kidney-shaped blue resin table with raised rim and circular recess, shown on a plain white background.
Cobalt Kidney Sunken Recess Resin Low Table - 90cm $5,60200
Description

This low table is cast hollow in deep cobalt resin, kidney-shaped in plan, with a raised rim following its whole outline and a circular recess sunk into the top at one end, deep enough to keep a glass or a small dish in place. The cobalt is at its strongest where the wall turns.

A Kidney Form With a Sunken Circle

A hollow casting on a kidney plan is harder to hold than a round one, because the wall has to stay even through two changes of curvature and a thin patch reads as a bright band from outside. The rim is drawn out of the same body and follows the whole outline. The recess is worked flat-bottomed inside its own wall so a glass sits in it without rocking, and its arris is left true. Every face is polished, including the floor of the recess, which is looked into more often than at, and the underside is taken to the same grade.

Placed before a sofa or amid a few armchairs, its kidney plan gives a curve to sit into rather than a corner to step round. The recess is at one end, so which way it faces is worth settling before it goes down. Cobalt this deep reads almost black away from a light source, so it wants a lamp near it or a window across from it.

The Recess, the Hollow Wall, and Delivery

Where the piece is standard the build is 3–4 weeks, and where it is bespoke 5–6. The sunken recess is what fills the time. Ordering settles three things. The recess diameter is open, the kidney plan is drawn to your own curve, and a thicker wall can be cast on request. Top length and rim height are each specified. Batched together, the pieces are made so the placing of the recess corresponds. The packing is designed round the raised rim and the recess floor; allow two people on arrival. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A cobalt kidney with a recess sunk at one end gives our art furniture a low table; the curving plan suits our organic sculptures, its deep blue body our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
