A mass pierced on every face, some of the openings meeting through the middle and others ending blind, with the surface left coarse everywhere including within them. Colourless throughout, so the openings read dark and the worked surface reads bright. The carved stand is included, dark with a gilded scroll round it.
Two rocks cut from the same idea are never the same rock: the openings are placed against what the last one left, so the second is decided by the first and neither can be repeated. Neither of the two can be repeated afterwards, which is why the two are drawn together rather than one from the other. What an uncoloured body does to a pierced rock is make the openings the darkest thing on it: there is no pigment to compete, so the eye goes to the holes and not to the colour. Worked rough over the whole rock, the openings included, with no polished area on it.
A study shelf takes it, or a cabinet, so long as it can be reached and turned. Dark behind it, or the whole rock flattens into one bright shape with nothing readable in it. One source off to the side is what the working wants; flat light fills the hollows and the surface goes quiet. The outline carries at a distance; the openings are a near-view fact.
Order a standard piece and it takes 3–4 weeks; order it bespoke and it takes 5–6. Ask us for a rock cut with fewer openings, for a stand of another plan, or for the body tinted rather than left clear. Open the holes further and the walls between them thicken, because what is left is what the rock stands on. One crate, and the stand travels under the rock rather than beside it. Two people at the crate, then one can place it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Openings meeting through the middle of a clear rock lead to our organic sculptures; the weathered casting is shown among our resin sculptures, and further pierced rocks wait in our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
