Clear Wave Top Fluted Metal Drum Coffee Table, 80cm, with a resin wave-textured top on a charcoal fluted drum base, shown against a plain white background.
Clear Wave Top Fluted Metal Drum Coffee Table - 80cm $4,59000
Description

The top of this clear resin and metal coffee table is clear resin with a strong horizontal wave worked right through its depth, so it reads as running water seen from directly above rather than as a texture on a surface. It sits on a charcoal metal drum whose whole face is cut into close vertical flutes, and the two do opposite things with the light.

A Running Wave Over a Fluted Drum

The wave is modelled into both mould faces so the crests enter the material from above and below, which is why it holds at different depths across the top rather than sitting in one plane. The flutes on the drum are turned and hold their pitch the whole way round. The top is polished to a mirror and the drum is left matt: a fluted face that took a reflection would compete with the wave above it and neither would read. The top is bedded onto the drum across its whole rim rather than at points, so nothing bears on a single spot of resin.

It is a coffee table to anchor a seating arrangement, and its round plan has no front or back. The metal drum is matt, so it will not throw the room back at you, and a plain floor suits the wave better than a pattern that would read up through it. It is heavy for its footprint, so the position is worth deciding before it is set down.

The Wave, the Flutes, and Ordering a Pair

Making a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks, and making a bespoke one 5–6. The fluted drum is the slow part. There are three decisions. The wave pitch is drawn to order, the drum is offered in a brushed or a blackened metal, and the top can be tinted. Neither the top diameter nor the drum height is fixed. Where two or more are wanted, the run of the wave across the top is held the same across the group. Nothing bears on the wave-cut top edge and the fluted drum in transit, and two people are enough to place it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A fluted charcoal drum under a running wave relates the table to our metal sculptures; in front of a long sofa it fills a place in our art furniture, and the wave suits our organic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
