Clear Wave & Gilt Sphere Cast Resin Sculpture, 40cm, with a clear forked wave arching over a ridged gold sphere in a blue trough, on a plain white background.
Clear Wave & Gilt Sphere Cast Resin Sculpture - 40cm $1,89900
Description

A colourless wave rises from a blue trough at one side of this piece, arches over the top of a gold sphere and runs out in a long arm that ends in an open, forked tip, small pointed flicks of spray standing along its back. The sphere rests in the trough with the wave's inner face against it on one side, its upper part wrapped in wavy horizontal ridges and the bottom third left smooth. The trough is the water beneath it all, sweeping up to a point at its far end. Three colours meet on a small object and none of them is anywhere near the others in temperature.

Clear Water Arching Over a Ridged Gold Ball

The piece is built from three contrasts. The wave is colourless and glassy, so it catches light along every edge and keeps the room in view behind it; the sphere is opaque and warm, its ridges catching the light in short, broken lines like water folding round it, while the smooth bottom takes a single soft shine; and the trough is a saturated blue, deepest along its bottom edge. The wave climbs behind the sphere, rests against it on one side and arches over its top, while the arm runs out well clear of it on the other, so the gold is framed by the water rather than buried in it.

The gold is what carries it across a room and it sits low in the piece, so a surface at or below eye level shows it best. Seen from the front, the gold sits framed inside the arch of the wave, and that is the view to place it for. A low table, a hall chest or a deep window sill all put the ball where it can be seen. At 40cm it suits any of them and asks for little more room than its own footprint.

Other Finishes on the Sphere, and Delivery

In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The sphere rests in the trough under the arch of the wave, and the open space between the gold and the clear water is part of the design. The sphere is made in other metal finishes, the wave is drawn further over it, and the blue foot is taken to a green. The size of the sphere is set against the span of the wave, so a heavier ball under a wider curl is made where a bolder piece is wanted. It travels in one box with the sphere in place and the wave faced around it, and nothing is assembled on arrival. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A clear wave arching over a ridged gold ball in its blue trough is shelved with our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
