Forelegs straight and the chest lifted, the beast in this resin sculpture is up on its haunches. Its head is smooth and tipped up, with a short muzzle and two pointed ears standing up from the crown, and behind it the tail fans out low beside the haunch. Fine scales are cut over the whole body from the throat to the haunch, and the beast is clear resin throughout, polished, with nothing set inside it.
Two thin ears standing straight up are the most vulnerable part of any small piece, and they are also the first thing the eye checks for symmetry. They are cut as a pair rather than one after the other, sighted from the front and from directly above, and left slightly thicker at the base than the shape strictly wants so that the piece survives being handled. The scales are the long job. They run over a body that turns in every direction, so each row is set out from the one above it rather than from a template, and every scale is cut to one depth so the light breaks evenly across them.
At twenty-seven centimetres it lives on a shelf or a cabinet, and it is symmetrical from the front, so it can face the room square on: on a hall chest, at the end of a run of books, or with a second one answering it across an opening. Light from in front or the side keeps the ears and the plume separate; a downlight from directly above closes the plume against the back and the ears lose their edges. On a dark surface the whole animal reads as an outline with the light caught in it.
Plan for 3–4 weeks on a standard piece and 5–6 weeks on a bespoke commission. It is one of four beasts, each a different animal, and the rest are cut to the same hand so the group can be gathered a piece at a time. The body is made clear as here, in an amber, a smoke or a green, and the resin will carry gold or silver leaf inside it. A base is offered under the animal where a plinth is wanted, and the ears can be laid back for a quieter outline. Sizes go up to a floor guardian. It arrives boxed with the ears and the plume protected; take it under the haunches. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A beast with its ears standing straight belongs with our classic sculptures; a body cut all over with fine scales leads to our figurative sculptures, and a beast sized for a chest top joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
