Clear Two-Tone Debarked Log Resin Sculpture, 40cm, with golden-olive and pale cream wood tones encased in clear resin, set on a plain white background.
Clear Two-Tone Debarked Log Resin Sculpture - 40cm $3,24000
Description

This block holds a log with its bark removed, and the timber on it is two clearly different colours: a golden-olive on one side and a pale green-cream on the other, meeting along a single vertical line that runs the whole height. A knot sits on that line about halfway up, exactly where the two tones change.

Two Timber Tones Meeting on One Vertical Line

A log with two colours in it is not common and the line between them is what makes this block worth looking at. On one side the timber is a warm golden-olive with a visible grain; on the other it is a much paler green-cream with almost none, and the change happens over a few millimetres rather than gradually. The knot that sits on the join is the reason: the branch that made it interrupted the wood on either side and the two faces grew differently after it. Both surfaces are smooth, since the bark has been taken off entirely.

At 40cm the top sits at seat-arm level, with room for a lamp or a tray but not for the two together. The two-tone face gives the piece a clear front, so it wants to be turned with the join facing the room and the plainer flank to the wall. Both tones are warm and pale, which makes it easy to place in a light scheme, and it sits well with oak, off-white plaster and wool. It is heavy for its footprint and does not want moving about. Indoor use only.

Debarked Logs and the Knot at the Join

Time separates the two: a bespoke commission takes 5–6 weeks, a standard piece 3–4. Taking the bark off is a specification, not a default, and it changes the piece more than any other choice available on it. Debarked, as here, the block reads as timber alone with the resin as a glassy surround, and every mark on the wood is visible; bark on, the same log would read as a dark band either side of a narrower timber face and the two tones would carry much less. The knot cannot be specified, and neither can the two-tone colouring, since both are properties of this particular log; a repeat order gives a debarked log of similar tone but not this division. Where a plain single-tone face is wanted that is easily found and costs the same. Other heights can be cut to order without changing the footprint. It comes standing in a fitted case, needs no assembly, and is set down in its final position rather than shuffled. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

The two-tone debarked log and its single knot lead to our organic sculptures, the clear block to our resin sculptures, and the even cube to our abstract sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
