Clear Tree Ring Resin Side Table on Black Legs - 65cm $2,76700
Description

This is a side table with a trunk-section top. The top is a thin clear resin slab taken from a trunk section, with growth rings running across its whole face, a rough unfinished rim in place of a cut edge, and a V-shaped notch cut in at one side of the outline. Three slim round legs carry it, dark to the point of black, each finishing in a gold cap at the top and a gold foot at the floor.

A Notched Trunk Section on Three Capped Legs

Two details separate this from a plain round-topped table. The first is the notch: a clean V taken out of one side of an otherwise soft irregular outline, which stops the top reading as a disc and gives it a front and a back. The second is the way the legs finish. Each is capped in gold, and the caps stand above the plane of the top rather than stopping under it, so from above the table shows three bright points around its rim and the eye reads the legs as passing the top rather than merely holding it. The legs themselves are matt and almost black, slim enough that they read as three lines, and each has a second band of gold at the floor. Against all that the top is quiet: colourless, thin, and carrying nothing but the ring pattern and the roughness of the rim.

This side table stands by an armchair or the end of a sofa, at a height a seated person can reach without stretching. The notch decides the orientation, so it wants to be turned outward where it can be seen. Because the top is colourless and thin, what lies under it matters: a plain floor lets the ring pattern read, and a patterned rug competes with it and wins. The gold caps catch a lamp, so a light to one side does more for it than one overhead. It is light enough for one person to move around a room. Indoor use only.

Leg Finish, Plan Size and the Notch

Set aside 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The legs are the first decision: black with gold caps and feet as here, a plain satin metal throughout, or an all-gold finish, and their length can be changed on request. The top can be ordered in other sizes, its rings drawn afresh for each rather than enlarged from one original. The notch can be deepened, moved to a different point on the rim, or left out altogether for an unbroken outline. The top and the legs travel apart, the legs boxed and the top crated flat and face up, and the legs locate into sockets already set in the underside, which takes one person about ten minutes. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A notched ring-top table on capped legs sits within our art furniture; its dark legs relate it to our metal sculptures, and the growth rings to our organic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
