Clear Tall Bark Band Log Resin Sculpture, 55cm, with olive-brown wood grain and black bark edges encased in clear resin, on a plain white background.
Clear Tall Bark Band Log Resin Sculpture - 55cm $4,79200
Description

This block rises well above its width, which gives it an upright, column-like proportion. Its face is an olive-brown heartwood with a strong straight grain, closed at each side by a coarse black bark band, and a pale sapwood line runs between the two. The top is a broad disc of end grain, level with the resin around it.

A Log Block With the Proportion of a Column

The proportion is the whole difference here. Carried high on its footprint, the block reads as a column rather than a cube, and the vertical grain of the timber runs with that rather than against it. The bark bands are coarse and deeply broken, and they give the piece a long dark edge on each side that a squat block cannot. The heartwood is olive rather than honey, cool in tone, and the grain is straight enough to read as a set of parallel lines from a distance.

At 55cm the flat top sits above the arm of most chairs, so the block holds a lamp or a small sculpture up where it can be seen, or stands beside a high-backed chair, rather than acting as a low table next to a sofa. In a hall it reads as a pedestal. It suits a position where its full height is visible from top to bottom, so out from a wall rather than half behind furniture, and the cool olive timber sits well with grey plaster and pale stone. It is heavy and stays where it is placed. Indoor use only.

The Tall Block as a Lamp Stand or Plinth

Order a standard piece and it takes 3–4 weeks; order it bespoke and it takes 5–6. Height is the specification worth thinking about on this piece, because it changes the job the block does. As a lamp stand it wants the flex run down the back face and a shade whose bottom edge clears the block, so a tall narrow shade rather than a wide one. As a plinth it will take a bust or a small figure, and the flat top is level enough to need no pad, though a piece with a rough base wants a felt between. The block can be cut to other heights on this footprint, and a wider square is available where a tall block feels top-heavy in the room. Bark coarseness is chosen, and a paler heartwood is offered for a lighter column. The piece is awkward rather than heavy, so it is carried low between two people and never on a shoulder. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

An upright, column-like block, it stands well among our abstract sculptures; its olive heartwood and bark run with our organic sculptures, and its colourless casting with our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
