This cast resin sculpture of a torso has no block under it. The bottom of the figure is ground flat and it stands on that foot directly on whatever surface it is put on. The planes are cut in steps rather than sweeps, and one step runs right across the body between the chest and the hip, so the two halves read as separate masses set one on the other. The material is colourless and clear throughout, with a rough, icy skin on its planes and no applied colour anywhere on it.
Everything about this piece depends on the foot, because there is nothing underneath to correct it. The sole is brought flat by hand against a reference surface and checked at four points, and the figure has to be upright when it does so, which means the angle of the sole is found on the finished object rather than decided in advance. The step across the middle is the other exacting passage: it is the only horizontal in a form otherwise made of diagonals, so any waver along it is read as a mistake instead of a texture. It is cut in one operation across the full width and then flatted, and the two faces meeting at it are taken to the same grade so neither looks the brighter.
Without a block this sits low and reads as part of the surface it stands on, which suits a stone worktop, an oak shelf or a run of cabinetry rather than a plinth. It is stable on its own foot but the foot is small, so a firm level surface matters more here than it would with a block beneath. Put it where light rakes across the front rather than head on: raking light turns each step into a hard band and the whole body gains depth, while flat frontal light makes the steps disappear.
Plan for 3–4 weeks on a standard piece and 5–6 weeks on a bespoke commission. A stone or timber block can be added if the piece is wanted at a greater height, and the sole is then left rougher and pinned. The number of steps is open, from this single division to three or four. Tints run to grey, amber and amethyst, and the clear body can be frosted instead. Any scale is made to order. It ships as one item, boxed and sleeved, with nothing to assemble, and one person can place it; the only care on delivery is to set it down on the foot rather than slide it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A torso that stands on its ground foot alone belongs with our classic sculptures; a single step dividing chest from hip leads to our abstract sculptures, and clear resin with an icy skin joins our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
