Description

Four rings stacked one on another and pierced right through, the whole of it left colourless, on a block of black marble. No colour anywhere in it. The body is left as clear as the material comes. The black marble block under the stack comes with it, and the lowest ring sits squarely on its centre.

Nothing but Edges and Openings

A colourless casting has no tone to organise itself with, so the edges and the openings carry the whole object, and any blemish anywhere on it is the first thing found. Each ring has to sit on the one beneath it over an area rather than at a point, and because there is no colour to distract the eye, any step or wobble between them is the first thing seen. Every piercing is finished inside to the grade used on the outer faces, since both are in view. With no colour at all the casting is read entirely by its edges,and the piercings become its only dark passages, so the openings do the work colour does on its neighbours. A full polish everywhere, including inside each piercing, because those inner surfaces are what the eye is given.

A hall table, a console or a shelf against a dark wall. Dark. A clear body on a pale ground has almost nothing to show. Point light gives every edge a highlight. Diffuse light makes it close to invisible. It needs the right ground to carry at all, and given one it is legible across a room.

Adding a Tint, and Delivery

Whether it is standard or bespoke sets the build: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. A tint can be run through it, the piercings can be opened, and the stack can be made with more rings. Run a tint through it and the piercings lose their place as the only dark thing in the piece, which is the whole reason they read as strongly as they do. One crate, on its block, arriving ready to stand. One person. Carry it by the block; the rings are the fragile part. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Pierced rings stacked into a clear column are gathered in our organic sculptures; the colourless casting belongs to our resin sculptures, and it stands with other clear pieces in our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
