Clear Slab Steel Column & Black Rock Dining Table (200cm) with rippled resin top, polished steel column base, and rough black rock pillar, on plain white background.
Clear Slab Steel Column & Black Rock Dining Table - 200cm $15,45900
Description

In this cast resin, steel and rock dining table the top is a heavy clear slab with a rippled surface and a torn edge, resting at one end on a mirror-polished steel column standing in a lobed foot plate and at the other on a rough black pillar modelled as split rock. One support returns the room and the other absorbs it, and nothing stands on the slab.

Polished Steel at One End, Rough Rock at the Other

The slab's ripple and torn edge are modelled into the mould, so the worked surface continues over the edge and under the lip without stopping. The steel column is seam-welded, ground and polished to a mirror, and its lobed foot plate is finished flat so the two supports can be brought to one plane. The rock pillar is worked in fibreglass to a profile modelled by hand and left matt, since a second bright surface beside the column would leave neither of them readable. The column is faced flat on top so the slab beds across its whole diameter rather than on a rim, and the slab is checked on both diagonals before it goes down.

Its two ends differ, steel at one and rock at the other, so which way round it stands in the room is worth deciding first. The steel returns whatever faces it, so what stands opposite the table matters as much as what is behind it. Both supports bear on small footprints, so it wants a hard level floor, and the slab overhangs each of them.

The Steel, the Rock, and Setting It Level

Expect 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks where the commission is bespoke. Most of it is the polished steel column. Three things can change. A brushed finish is offered in place of the mirror, the boulder is drawn to your own profile, and the two ends are reversed on request. Slab length and slab depth are quoted to whatever you need. Both pieces of a pair share the line of the torn edge when they are ordered together. The torn edge and the column's foot are padded before anything else goes in, the boulder travels boxed on its own, and four people are wanted at the door. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Polished steel at one end and black rock at the other put this dining table beside our stainless steel sculptures; set for a meal, it belongs to our art furniture, and the split rock our organic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
