Clear Slab Black Rock & Tapered Leg Console, 140cm, with a resin tapered leg and rough black rock pedestal topped by a black peak, on a plain white background.
Clear Slab Black Rock & Tapered Leg Console - 140cm $6,61200
Description

In this console one tapered clear resin leg stands under one end of the slab and a rough black rock pedestal under the other, so the piece is carried on a line and a mass rather than on a pair of anything. Small amber flecks are caught through the top, and a black peak stands on it directly over the pedestal, so that mass reads twice - once through the resin and once above it.

A Rock at One End, a Taper at the Other

The tapered leg is cast solid and worked back by hand to a single line, which is the difficult half of the build: a taper that wanders shows against nothing, because there is no second leg to read it against. The rock pedestal is worked in fibreglass to a modelled outline and finished matt so it takes no reflection from the resin above it. The amber flecks are placed through the pour and held at the depth they were put, and the peak's position is taken off the pedestal beneath it rather than off the ends of the top. The slab is levelled on both diagonals before anything is bonded down.

It is a console for a hall or the end of a room, and because its two ends differ, which way it faces should be settled before it is set in place. The rock pedestal stands on a narrow footprint, which asks for a firm level floor rather than a deep carpet, and the peak is best met at standing height.

The Rock, the Taper, and Setting It Level

Bespoke commissions take 5–6 weeks; standard pieces take 3–4. Most of it is the rock support. Three things can change. The pedestal outline is drawn to your brief, the leg can be set at the other end instead, and the flecks are left out where a plain slab is wanted. Slab length and blade height are both quoted on request. Once the order is placed as one, the set of the peak on the slab is carried through it. The packing is shaped to the torn slab edge and the tapered leg, and moving it is a four-person job. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

One end on a tapered clear leg, the other on rough black rock: this console sits in our art furniture, its rock and peak in our organic sculptures, its slab in our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
