Clear Seated Lion on a Dark Fibreglass Column Resin Sculpture - 186cm
Clear Seated Lion on a Dark Fibreglass Column Resin Sculpture - 186cm $3,84900
Description

A clear resin lion sits upright on the top of this tall column, its mane in heavy curls and its forelegs straight beneath it, and the lion and its dark fibreglass column are one piece. The column is square in section and close to black, with a rough surface that reads like broken stone and a plain foot at the bottom. Because the column takes almost no light, the colourless lion at its head is what the eye goes to.

A Clear Lion Seated High on Dark Stone-Like Fibreglass

A clear figure on a very tall support has to be right from below, since that is where most people will see it from. The lion is therefore modelled with its weight sitting back and its chest lifted, and the curls of its mane are cut deep so that they throw shadow when light comes from overhead. It is polished all over, so the resin stays clear rather than grey. The column is fibreglass, worked to a rough, stony face in a near-black colour so that it reads as a plinth and not as part of the animal, and its head is shaped to take the lion's seat.

At 186cm the lion is above eye level for most people, so it suits a large room, a landing or a double-height hall, where people look up to it from across the space. It is a floor piece that wants open space around its column. Light from above or behind the lion shows the curls best; a pale wall behind it keeps the near-black column from vanishing.

Column Height, Finish and Delivery

Our workshops take 3–4 weeks over a standard piece and 5–6 over a bespoke commission. The price covers the lion and the column together. The lion can be frosted or tinted, and the column can be made in another dark colour, with a smoother face, or at another height. Other sizes of lion are cut to order. The two are crated together, the lion in its own fitted section and the column laid flat, and the column needs two people to stand it up. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A colourless lion seated high on a tall pillar belongs with our lion statues; curls cut deep for light from overhead lead to our figurative sculptures, and resin on a dark stone-like column joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
