Back and seat on this chair are one piece. A single shell is scooped so the seat runs up into the back with no joint between them, its edges left thin and its inner face polished. Four legs carry it, each tapering from the floor upward and swelling into a knuckle where it arrives under the shell. The whole chair is one clear acrylic with a pale blue cast, so it reads as an outline caught along its edges and at those four knuckles.
A shell that has to serve as both back and seat is cast in one piece and then worked, because the change of direction between the two is where the eye goes and a joint there would be the only thing anybody saw. The scoop is taken out gradually rather than pressed, so the thickness stays even through the curve; a thin place reads as a shadow in clear acrylic long before it becomes a weakness. The knuckles are not decoration but the reason the legs work: a taper carried straight into a shell arrives at a point, so each leg is swelled where it lands and meets the underside across a wider foot instead. All four are cast to the same taper and brought to a finish together, since a leg a shade fatter than its neighbours shows itself in a clear chair from across a room.
A clear chair is the one seat you can put in a small dining room without closing it in, because the wall behind reads straight through the back. Set it at a table where the legs are visible rather than tucked under a deep apron, since the knuckles are the argument of the piece and they sit at the top of each leg. It suits a glass or pale timber table; against a very dark one the whole chair goes except its edges. Allow room behind to push back from the table.
Ordinarily a standard piece needs 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. Shell depth is set at order: a deeper scoop makes a chair you sit into and a shallow one a chair you perch on. The legs are offered straighter or given more taper, and the knuckle can be brought up to a full ball or worked almost flat. The acrylic can be made colourless, or tinted through the shell in a smoke or an amber with the legs left clear. Seat height is cut to suit a table. Each chair travels as one piece, boxed and sleeved, and comes out of the box as a two-person carry; nothing is put together on site. Where several are wanted for one table, say the count at order so they are scheduled as one lot. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A seat that runs up into its back without a joint belongs with our acrylic sculptures; legs that swell into knuckles beneath the shell lead to our organic sculptures, and a chair that keeps a small dining room open joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
