Clear Robed Figure on Acrylic Base - 198cm, a clear resin sculpture of a robed man with one hand open and the other holding a hat, on a clear acrylic base, shown against a plain white background.
Clear Robed Figure on Acrylic Base - 198cm $14,78300
Description

A standing figure in a long robe, life size and then some. The robe falls from the shoulders in broad vertical folds to the feet, with a sash across the chest and wide sleeves; the hair is drawn up into a topknot under a small cap. One hand is held out from the body, palm up and open, and the other carries a wide flat hat down at the side. The whole figure is clear resin, polished, and stands on a clear acrylic plate that lifts it a hand's depth off the floor.

A Hand Held Out at Full Height

An open palm held away from the body at this scale is the hardest thing on the piece. It is unsupported, it is the part a viewer's eye goes to, and it is seen against the light, so the fingers are cut with a section that will hold and then relieved on their undersides where the loss cannot be seen; the wrist is set so the forearm carries the hand rather than the elbow. The robe is the long work. Its folds run the full height of the figure and each must keep the same depth from shoulder to hem, or the eye reads the drapery as sagging - they are cut from the hem upward for that reason, against the way the cloth falls.

At 198cm including the base this is a hall, atrium and stair-well piece and it needs to be met from the front, at a distance where the whole figure can be seen at once. Leave the space in front of the open hand clear: that is where the composition points. A clear acrylic base carries light up into the feet of the figure, so a lamp or a window low down does more for it than a ceiling light, which lands on the shoulders and leaves the robe dark. It needs a level floor.

Colour, the Base and Getting It Home

Work on a bespoke commission runs to 5–6 weeks, on a standard piece to 3–4. The hands are settled at order, from this open palm and hat to both hands together or a scroll carried in one. The figure can be tinted smoke, amber or green, and frosting suits a room where a full-height figure in gloss would be too much. The base is made in this clear acrylic, in black stone or in brushed steel. Sizes run from a table figure up to above life size. It arrives in one crate standing, with the outheld hand cased separately and the base packed flat; take the weight at the waist and never by an arm. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Robed figures are robed at figurative sculpture, stood on acrylic sculpture, and looked back on through classical sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
