Clear Rippled Twin Plate Cast Resin Dining Table, 250cm, with two overlapping rippled clear resin tops on tapered poured-look legs, shown on a plain white background.
Clear Rippled Twin Plate Cast Resin Dining Table - 250cm $16,68100
Description

The top is colourless and rippled across its whole face, and it is not one plate but two, laid so that one rides over the other towards one end with the crossing left visible as a step. Neither plate has a straight edge anywhere on it. The legs are colourless as well, spreading where they meet the underside and drawing away to a small foot, so that they read as something poured rather than something fitted.

Two Plates Crossing, and the Step Left Showing

A top made as two plates has to decide what to do where they meet, and this one decides to admit it. The crossing is left as a step you can see and put a hand on rather than being worked away to a flush face, and every ripple runs into it and stops. That is the harder way to finish it and it is the only way that keeps the two plates readable as two; blended, the top would read as one sheet with an odd outline and the reason for the shape would be gone. The ripples are worked into the face rather than applied to it, which is why they carry the light in bands instead of glittering, and it is also why the crossing shows as a change of depth and not merely as a line. Colourless throughout, the whole table takes its tone from the floor it stands on.

Give it a long room and leave a clear pass on both sides, because the outline wanders and a chair pulled out at the widest point needs more room than the same chair at the ends. A pale floor is what to stand it on: the whole table takes its colour from underneath, and a dark floor fills it and closes the ripples up. Light along the length rakes across the ripples and finds the step where the plates cross; light from directly above flattens both. Keep the legs clear of where chairs are pushed back, since they are drawn thin at the foot.

The Crossing, the Legs and Getting a Long Top Home

Delivery follows a 3–4 week build as standard, or a 5–6 week build if bespoke. You settle three things at the order. The plates are set to whatever overlap you want, the ripple can be run finer or left coarse across the face, and the piece is offered tinted through the body instead of colourless. The length of the top and the height to the surface are quoted to your figure. Where a room takes more than one, order them at the same time, because where the plates cross is set out once for the group and not arrived at twice. The legs and the top are crated apart, since the legs are the thin part and a long top will not go round a turn with them attached. Four people, the legs on first and the top lowered onto them square. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A long dining table of two crossing clear plates belongs to our art furniture; the rippled top joins our resin sculptures, and a long dining room is its natural place among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
