Clear Rippled Bud Resin Sculpture (171cm) by Giant Sculptures, a tapered form with a smooth crown above rippled, wave-like texture on a black square base, shown against a plain light grey background.
Clear Rippled Bud Resin Sculpture - 171cm $14,78300
Description

A smooth clear crown rising out of a mass worked into close horizontal ripples, with no line anywhere to say where one becomes the other. Colourless right through, so the mass reads dark where it is thick and clear where it is worked thin. A square black base is included underneath it.

Where the Water Stops and the Bud Begins

Two surfaces on one body is the whole argument, and the join is the hard part: the ripples are worked shallower as they climb until they simply stop, so that nothing on the piece reads as a seam between the two. A casting this deep is why the two halves read differently: the smooth crown passes the light straight through and the worked foot stops it at every ripple. Smooth over the crown and worked into close horizontal ripples through the foot, with no join between the two.

Floor work for an atrium or a wide landing, with room to walk around it. Anything behind it should be plain and pale, because the mass reads dark and needs a ground to be dark against. Lit from behind, the crown clears and the ripples go opaque, and that pairing is what the drawing is built on. It reads as a single dark mass from across a room and separates into crown and ripples at about two paces.

Carrying the Ripples Up, and a Levelled Base

Production takes approximately 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. Say the word and the ripples are carried further up the body, a tint is run through it, or the base beneath is cut wider. Carry the ripples further up and the crown shrinks with them, which turns a bud rising out of water into a piece of water on its own. The base goes down and is checked for level before the casting comes off the pallet. Four people and a trolley; there is no version of this one that is a hand lift. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A bud-like crown above a rippled foot leads to our organic sculptures; the rippled casting sits among our resin sculptures, and an atrium is its natural setting among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
