Clear Rimless Hoop Wave Cast Resin Sculpture - 66cm, a clear hoop-shaped wave with a spiked crest and trailing tail, shown on a plain white background.
Clear Rimless Hoop Wave Cast Resin Sculpture - 66cm $2,76600
Description

A colourless wave brought round into a hoop and stood on its own rim, with nothing beneath it. From a low tail that trails out along the surface at one side, the band climbs round, breaks at the top into a crest of upturned spikes of different lengths, and comes down the far side to close the ring. Short fingers of water point inward from the band into the open middle, and the band itself is rippled and glassy all the way round.

It Stands on the Hoop and Nothing Else

With nothing beneath it, every part of the ring is on show, so the drawing has to hold from every side. The band is broadest at the foot, where it rests on the surface in a long, shallow curve and runs on into the tail, which lifts at its end into a single small upturned finger. Climbing, it thins and twists, so its glassy face catches the light in long streaks, and at the crest it throws up its spikes the way a wave throws up spray where it turns over. The inward fingers keep the open middle from reading as an empty hoop: they point across it like drops about to leave the band.

Nothing lifts it off the surface, so the surface it stands on is read as part of it. On stone or oak it looks like an object that belongs there; on glass it appears to float, which is a different and equally good reading; on anything textured it looks unsteady whether it is or not. Standing 66cm, it needs a console or a sideboard deep enough to set it back where nobody will knock it, since there is no base to take a glancing blow. Light from behind fills the opening.

The Ring's Shape, a Tinted Foot, and Delivery

Order a standard piece and it takes 3–4 weeks; order it bespoke and it takes 5–6. With no base under it, the hoop rests on the curve of its band, so whatever surface it is given becomes part of the piece. As a commission the ring can be drawn wider or more upright, the crest thrown higher or kept low, and a tint run through the foot and the outer band, and the whole hoop can be made at another size. It travels on its side in a fitted case and is lifted out with both hands under the band, then stood upright on a level surface. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Standing on its own rim with a crest of spikes thrown up at the top, this colourless hoop wave is gathered with our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
