Clear Riddled Rock Resin Sculpture (67cm) with coarse, porous form on a black stand with gold scrollwork, shown against a plain white background.
Clear Riddled Rock Resin Sculpture - 67cm $2,36200
Description

A broad mass with openings through it on every face, spaced well clear of one another, and the surface left coarse throughout. Colourless from end to end, which leaves every opening as a dark shape against a bright body. The carved stand comes with it, its band of gold scrollwork running all the way round.

More Openings and Further Apart

The broader of the two carries its openings further apart, which is why it reads as the quieter object although it has more of them. Spacing them that way costs the rock nothing in strength and gains it a great deal in quiet, which is the whole difference between the two. A broader rock puts more material between its openings, and an uncoloured body is what keeps that from reading as bulk: the eye looks through the mass rather than at it. Rough across the whole face and through the openings, with nothing taken to a polish.

A wide shelf or a cabinet top, with room to be walked around. A dark ground behind it, because a colourless rock against a pale wall loses its edge. Raking the light across it is what finds the working; straight-on light returns a flat bright face. From the door it reads as one bright mass, and the openings separate at about two paces.

Setting Them Out Again, and the Stand Beneath

Work on a bespoke commission runs to 5–6 weeks, on a standard piece to 3–4. On request the openings are set out differently, the stand is cut to another plan, or the rock is made at another size. Widen the rock and the openings are redrawn across it, since they are spaced against the body rather than laid on a grid. Crated in one, with the stand packed beneath the rock. Two people for the lift, one hand under the stand and one on the body. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A broad clear rock with openings set wide apart belongs to our organic sculptures; its quieter spacing suits our resin sculptures, and more for a reading room is in our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
