Clear Polished Tapering Point Resin Sculpture - 27cm, a curved form with a milky grey core tapering to a slender point, shown on a plain light grey background.
Clear Polished Tapering Point Resin Sculpture - 27cm $1,89000
Description

A body swelling out through its middle and narrowing again, to a small foot below and to a single drawn point above, with the point leaning a little off the vertical. Clear resin carries a milky grey core through the widest part, so the body reads soft inside a glassy skin. Nothing is supplied under it; the small foot is what it stands on.

Everything Leads to One Place

A body drawn to a point is a test of the material at exactly one place, and everything else about it is preparation for that. The lean is what stops it reading as a cone: the axis moves as the section narrows, so the silhouette is different from every side and the point never sits where you expect it. A point drawn this fine out of a solid body is where a cast material either holds or fails, and there is no second chance at it. Polished, and the point is polished as carefully as the body although almost nobody will look at it.

A bedside, a desk or a narrow shelf. It takes almost no room at all. A dark ground gives it an outline; a pale one makes it nearly invisible, which some people want. Light along the taper runs up to the point and stops, which is the whole effect. It is too small to carry and is meant to be come upon rather than seen.

Drawing the Point Longer, and Delivery

Production takes approximately 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The point is drawn longer, a tint is run into the foot, and the body is made at other heights. Draw the point longer and the foot is broadened, since the whole piece balances on a small footing. One small crate, bedded on the foot, with the point packed clear of everything. One person. Take it by the body; the point is not a handle. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A body drawn up to a single fine point is gathered in our organic sculptures; the polished casting belongs among our resin sculptures, and more to be found close to hand is in our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
